Why Celery Juicing Is All The Rage
Even if you’re only mildly interested in healthy living and natural nutrition, chances are you’ve heard some noise about celery juice lately.
Celery juice is being dubbed as a 'cure-all' wonder remedy for many common ailments as well as a secret to ongoing health and wellness.
Whilst celery by itself is not considered a definitive "superfood", thanks in part to Anthony Williams, author of the best-selling “Medical Medium” series of books, word has gotten out about the amazing results people have been experiencing in terms of healing chronic health issues by regularly drinking celery juice.
This is not “pie in the sky” stuff either, as you’ll see, celery, like other wholefood gifts from nature’s table, offers you a range of scientifically supported nutritional and health benefits.
The Celery Plant
Growing to heights of up to 40 centimetres, celery is a member of the Umbelliferae family of vegetables and herbs which also includes carrots, fennel, parsley and dill.
Although its stalks are most commonly known for their use in cuisine, the leaves, roots and seeds can also be used. These have been embraced traditionally in many cultures as a natural remedy thanks to their medicinal properties.
If you take a closer look at this stalky green vegetable, you’ll soon notice that the stems hold a resemblance to human bones.
Ancient cultures observed and adopted the wisdom that the "signature" or “sign-of-nature”, of celery resembles the structure and shape of the human bones.
Not only does celery 'snap' and 'look' like bones, snap it, most interestingly it contains a phytochemical composition of sodium that is approximately 21%, which is almost identical to the amount of sodium which healthy human bones are meant to store to be functional and strong!

Unfortunately, due to its stalky nature, celery regularly gets ranked as one of the "dirty dozen" vegetables and fruits that contain the highest presence and concentration of toxic chemical residues from commercial cultivation methods.
Source your celery from the local farmer's markets whenever you can. And on occasions when you can't access organic or spray-free celery, be sure to rinse it well in a water and apple cider vinegar solution (add one cup of ACV to 3-4 litres of water) before you refrigerate or juice your celery.

How To Prepare
One of the best and easiest ways to make celery juice is by using a “cold-pressed juicer”.
These types of juicers are designed to be slow and gentle when they grind vegetables and fruit and extract a “living juice” with most of the health-promoting enzymes, vitamins and minerals still intact.
A great model which we use and recommend is the Kuvings Elite C7000 Cold Pressed Professional Juicer. If not use any brand of cold-press juicer or the best quality centrifugal juicer you can find!
- Select a fresh and crisp bunch of celery as this will contain the highest concentration of enzymes, vitamins and minerals
- Rinse well under cold water as dirt tends to get embedded into stalks and leaves
- Keep the leaves on but chop off the roots
- Feed stalks and leaves into a cold pressed juicer, or chop up into smaller pieces first if using a standard juicer or blender
- Drink on an empty stomach and enjoy!
Although freshly pressed or juiced is always preferable, if you are time-poor, provided your juice is cold-pressed, you can prepare it in bulk “batches” and store refrigerated in airtight glass bottles or mason jars for up to 72 hours and it's nutrients will remain in tact.
