Relationships permeate all aspects of our life and they can come and go socially and in business, but it's our intimate relationships that tend to cause us the most pleasure or pain throughout our life time. 

Intimate relationships are the ones that tend to either energise us or tear us down the most, which is why it's so important to give our closest relationships the attention they deserve if we want to feel our best emotionally.

There's really only one reason to be in a long-term relationship with someone, and that is to magnify human emotion.  This means to experience all that is wonderful about giving, sharing and growing with another person.  But the problem is that all of this takes work, respect, forgiveness and a willingness to constantly learn and grow from both partners, which is not always easy.

1. Selfishness

When one or both parties only think about or consider themselves it can often feel like “All take and no give”.

This one-sidedness or imbalance can often present as narcissistic or self-absorbed behaviours that seem to neglect the other person’s feelings, emotions or needs.

2. Feeling Drained
