Indulge Smart this Christmas

There's no doubt that Christmas is all about spending time with those you care about most, indulging in great food, cheer and good organic beer (if you're a cowboy like me)!

The festive season is not a time to place restrictions on yourself, but to ensure that you don't come down with 'festive fever' or a feeling of being so backed up that you might burst, there's a few simple tips that can help.

The first thing to realise is that turkey, ham (any meat), alcohol and pudding all mixed together can create overwhelm in your body that can easily spiral you digestive system into chaos, causing a fever or the flu.

If you're going to eat these foods, try to space them out rather than float them all down the river at the same time.

Better still, go with vegetarian options, or at least try to eat some raw fruits or salads before your main meal to ensure that you get your fix of 'easily digestible', higher water content foods into your body and so that you'll feel less hungry when the heavy stuff arrives.

I'd also highly recommend each day during the holiday period, that you start the day with at least one of these simple rituals:

  • Squeeze the juice of a fresh lemon and a pinch of sea salt into a 500ml glass of chilled filtered water and drink;
  • Prepare and sip a fresh fruit juice or smoothy before you eat any solid food;
  • Add a teaspoon of Bentonite Clay to your morning juice or a glass of cold water before you eat anything.

All of these tips will help to keep your internal tubes clean and avoid toxic overwhelm when you're digestive system is under extra Christmas stress!

Remember too, that a fever or the flu is not a sickness.  It’s a symptom of the body being in chaos due to some type of overwhelm that needs to come out.  Just don't add to the problem, drink plenty of water and let it run it's course of healing.

Eat, drink and be merry this Christmas...just choose to indulge smart.
