The Health Wonders of the Avocado

There's so much wonderful history behind the humble fruit we call the Avocado.

According to legend, a Mayan princess ate the first Avocado way back in 291 B.C.

This is one fruit that has a very feminine context, because when cut open it perfectly resembles a womb with a swollen seed, just like a woman who is pregnant.

The Aztecs taught that the womb and cervix was the sign of nature or signature of the avocado because of this resemblance. And they were also the first to brilliantly discover, that it takes the avocado 9 months to go from blossom to ripened fruit!

It's no coincidence that today's studies show that avocados actually protect women from cervical and breast cancers and complications during pregnancy and giving birth.

That said, the Avocado is a delicious, healthy wholefood that both women and MEN should eat whenever they can because it has so many nutritional, healing qualities.

Unlike many fruits, the avocado fruit does not ripen on the tree.  Instead, it will fall off in a hard, “green” state before quickly ripening on the ground. Or once picked and kept at natural outside or room temperature, it will ripen in 3-6 days.

Some of the healing qualities of Avocados include:

  • The good fats heal and protect the joints and nerves;
  • They raise good (HDL) blood cholesterol, stabilizing blood sugar and providing glutathione to cleanse the liver 
  • Protect the Heart
  • Prevents Stroke
  • Curbs Cancer and Asthma
  • Heals Bruising and Kidney Stones
  • Smoothes the Skin
  • Diminishes appetite.

This incredible wholefood has so many incredible nutrients that help you body in so many ways and it is so versatile and could be used in many different ways.

I just love whipping up a Guacamole by smashing a couple of ripe avos in a bowl, adding fresh lime juice and cilantro (coriander), chopped tomatoes, fresh chilli and Celtic Sea Salt.  Grab some good corn tortillas or chips, or cut up some celery or carrot sticks and yeeha!
