Conscious Business: A new paradigm at work

Whether we like it or not, most of us need to 'work' to provide for ourselves (and our families).

Unfortunately though, so many folks slave away each day doing a job that doesn't inspire them - just to pay the bills - or worse still, as a career they chose long ago that really doesn't fit with who they really are.

The ancient phrase, "pleasure is the greatest good", should apply as much as possible, not only to your personal life but to your working life as well.

Since 'work' makes up such a big part of our lives, we might as well find ways to find pleasure in this process so that it gives us some sense of connection and fulfilment.

The Industrial Age was primarily about work to support our families.

Today, we can choose to create (or at least be involved in) 'conscious business'...business and work that aligns with our beliefs and values and brings greater meaning and purpose to our life.

Inspiration versus Perspiration

In his diary, Thomas Edison wrote, “Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.”

But I feel like in today's Information Age, it's flipped to the contrary.

In today's digital world, we have easy access to so many sources of creative inspiration that can help us live on purpose.

We also have the ability to conduct business globally and to even easily work from home if we choose.

Virtually anyone can start a business now for a relatively small investment, so the ability to leverage our gifts and talents and to live and work on purpose is a very real opportunity for just about anyone who believes it is possible these days.

If anything, the biggest trap people fall into today is a belief system that they need to trade sweat equity for dollars.

I would only agree with this if you're getting started in the workforce, your transitioning between jobs or careers, OR if this type of work actually brings you joy.

Inspiration at work

In corporations, the 'buzz word' is productivity.

It's all about getting the most out of every single worker, each and every hour.

This is all fine if you're working for an organisation that has a happy culture, that fosters team work and gives you wings to fly.

But if it's only about perspiration without inspiration, it can become an energy drain after a little while.

All of us long to be inspired in our lives, to make progress and to see a future that includes clear blue skies.

That's what gives us fuel to do our best work and grow not just financially, but emotionally as well.

Conscious Business is about being involved with a cause that lights you up and gives you the chance to make positive contribution to the world.

It's also about community, connection and helping others to grow through a greater level of consciousness as well.

I'm a firm believer that if you can find creative ways to make what you love and believe in your business as well, you'll never work another day in your life.

It's real and it's happening today.

There are people all over the world who have found creative ways to monetise their message or passions into a sustainable business that solves a problem - not only for themselves, but for humanity too.

Have you ever thought about doing the same?

Conscious compromising

Sometimes in life and business we need to move sideways like a crab before we can move forward.

Good new things often begin with compromising and planting new seeds.

That's why if you're searching for new opportunities, realise that taking these little detours is just part of the process for finding new direction that might serve you better in the long run.

Create value

The free market system as we know it is morally neutral.

It offers a broad mix of good, bad and ugly products and services...but regardless of our opinion of what's morally good, to survive each must ultimately fulfil a need.

It is my personal belief, that in time, those companies that contribute to (and exploit) things like human addiction and suffering, will eventually fail.

I believe that we are heading into an era of consciousness that will begin with wide spread community adoption and then will ultimately transition into the business world as well.

So, if you've ever had an inner desire to add greater value to the universe and to utilise all of your gifts, I believe that this is your time.

Consider, building a personal brand to share your message with the world, make music, invent a new product and sell it online, or become a self care advocate by joining a wonderful company and community like dōTerra.

Plant A Seed Today

Life's too short to spend half of it working a career or job that brings you down.

So either look on the bright side of what you've got, or find ways to make a positive change that is going to serve you better.

It starts with being more conscious about the changing world in which you live and realising that opportunities to create the life you want abound like never before in history!

Change can be swift and abrupt. Or it can be a transition.

If you're ready to make a positive conscious business change, why not plant a new seed today?
